Courting Cognizance

"Father, make me aware. Lead me. Make yourself known to me..."

As my introduction says, I am so hopeful that you will join me as I pursue awareness of God, myself, and of those others and those things around me. I've been feeling pulled in so many directions, and one thing that has always helped me is writing. Dumping my thoughts out through writing (and typing) is where I tend to find direction. It's where I hear from God the most. And goodness, I need to be in tune with His voice! The past several years have been full of so many trials and battles. I've fought some well, and  others I've allowed to deter me from the path God has called me to. Each day is a journey, each hour honestly, and the more I stay actively aware of God's presence, my heart, and the environment around me, the stronger I am in my walk with my Father. I believe this is true for all people, not just me. I believe that if you were brought to my page and led to read this, that perhaps it's because God is calling you as well. Calling you to take a deep breath, close your eyes, and pray simply, "Father, make me aware. Lead me. Make yourself known to me." Because to Him, our desire for Him brings joy.

Courting cognizance means so much more than just seeking knowledge. To court cognizance, one must be intimately aware of all things, even the small things. I urge you to walk along with me as we adapt to a life of seeking, pursuing, a life of courting a familiarity and awareness of God, our faith, our family, and being aware of the community and world around us as a means of both servitude and protection. Will you join me?

In 2 Timothy 3:1-7 (NIV), it says, "But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people. They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth."

We are called to be aware of our surroundings as a form of protection. To be aware of the things we need protection from, we also need to be aware of what scripture says we need to saturate ourselves in. I pray that as I journey (and maybe you with me?), that my heart be open to what the Lord is saying. For the first few weeks I will be posting things I am writing now, and things I've written over the past few years and feel led to share. So please, be sure to follow this page as we take a deep breath and ready ourselves for a season of courting cognizance.
